Overview

This film is part of the Culinary Cinema series and includes a chef-created three-course menu inspired by the film.

When renowned crime novelist Harlan Thrombey is found dead after his 85th birthday celebration, detective Benoit Blanc is mysteriously enlisted to investigate. With Harlan’s eccentric and combative family gathered under one roof, Blanc must navigate a tangled web of lies, motives, and secrets to unravel the mystery surrounding his death.

Culinary Menu

Appetizer
“The Last of the Shallots” Tartlet
Caramelized shallot with whipped goat cheese, thyme, balsamic glaze, and crisp pastry.
  Entree
“Benoit Blanc au Vin” Chicken
Red wine–braised chicken with mushrooms, pearl onions, pommes purée, herbs, and glossy pan jus.
  Dessert
“Marta’s Truth Serum” Panna Cotta
Vanilla panna cotta with blood orange gelée, citrus, almond, and a bright berry coulis.

Gather around the Thrombey family table for a meal where nothing is quite what it seems. The evening begins with an elegant shallot tart, peeling back layer after layer just as Detective Benoit Blanc begins unraveling the secrets hidden within Harlan’s mansion. The entrée brings Blanc himself to the table, pairing his theatrical Southern charm with a classic wine-braised dish whose slow, patient preparation mirrors his methodical pursuit of the truth. Finally, dessert turns Marta’s unusual inability to lie into a sweet “truth serum,” with bright citrus cutting through the richer flavors just as her honesty cuts through the family’s tangled web of deception. In true Knives Out fashion, every course offers a clue—but whether you can solve the mystery before the final bite is entirely up to you.
